Filmmaker · Animator · composer

Mochi grew up looking up at the green roof tiles around her neighbourhood,

running between the red imperial city walls of Beijing.

However, when she fled to Canada in 2015, looking down through the tiny porthole,

all she perceived was a city long shrouded with grey smog and yellow sandstorm.

Therefore, her artworks are often concerned with the escape, the censorship, the oppression and resistance,

the inability to express, and the irony of being physically free, yet still a prisoner.

Her art cannot be separated from her fellow men,

as it allows her to live, such as she is, on one level with them.

Outside of her studio, Mochi can always be found reading, writing, sending postcards to her penpals, hiking in the Canadian Rockies, learning languages, and above all, composing music and practicing the piano.
